Can an Argy pick up a Rex?

Answered by Phillip Nicastro

An Argentavis or larger flyer can indeed pick up a baby Rex in Ark: Survival Evolved. This can be a very useful strategy, especially if you need to move the baby Rex to a safer location or if you want to transport it to a different base.

To pick up a baby Rex with an Argentavis, you simply need to approach the baby Rex and press the appropriate button (usually right-click) to pick it up. Keep in mind that you need to have the baby Rex targeted and be close enough for the pickup option to appear.

Once the baby Rex is picked up, it will be carried in the Argentavis’ claws. You can then fly to your desired location and drop the baby Rex by pressing the pickup button again. It’s important to note that the baby Rex will not take fall damage while being carried by the Argentavis, so you don’t need to worry about dropping it from a height.

This strategy can be particularly helpful when raising baby Rexes in dangerous areas, such as near hostile creatures or in areas prone to raiding. By picking up the baby Rex with an Argentavis, you can quickly move it to a safer location, such as an enclosed pen or a more secure base.

Additionally, if you have multiple bases spread out across the map, you can use an Argentavis or other large flyer to transport the baby Rex to a different base. This can save you a lot of time and effort compared to having to travel on foot or with a ground-based mount.

In my personal experience, I have used this strategy numerous times to move baby Rexes to different bases or to relocate them to safer areas. It has proven to be a reliable and efficient method, allowing me to protect and care for my baby Rexes without the risk of them getting attacked or lost along the way.

So, if you find yourself in a situation where you need to move a baby Rex, don’t hesitate to use an Argentavis or another large flyer to pick it up and transport it safely. It’s a handy strategy that can make your life in Ark: Survival Evolved much easier.
