Is Vision just Jarvis?
In order to answer this question, we need to delve into the background of both J.A.R.V.I.S. and Vision. J.A.R.V.I.S., which stands for Just A Rather Very Intelligent System, is an artificial intelligence created by Tony Stark, also known as Iron Man. J.A.R.V.I.S. serves as Stark’s personal assistant, helping him with various tasks and controlling his suits of armor.
On the other hand, Vision is a synthezoid created by combining the artificial intelligence of J.A.R.V.I.S. with an android body made from the organic tissue of Ultron’s creator, Dr. Helen Cho, and the Mind Stone. The Mind Stone, one of the six Infinity Stones, grants Vision a variety of powers, including flight, superhuman strength, and the ability to phase through solid objects.
While J.A.R.V.I.S. is the foundation for Vision, it would be inaccurate to say that Vision is simply J.A.R.V.I.S. in physical form. Vision possesses his own consciousness and identity, separate from J.A.R.V.I.S. Vision is capable of independent thought and decision-making, and he develops his own personality and beliefs throughout the course of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In Avengers: Age of Ultron, J.A.R.V.I.S. is partially destroyed by Ultron, but his remnants are successfully uploaded into the android body to create Vision. This merging of J.A.R.V.I.S. with the android body results in the birth of Vision as a unique entity. While J.A.R.V.I.S.’s influence can be seen in Vision’s behavior and demeanor, Vision is not simply a continuation of J.A.R.V.I.S. in physical form.
One could argue that Vision represents the evolution of J.A.R.V.I.S., as he transcends his previous role as a mere artificial intelligence and becomes a fully realized being. Vision’s experiences and interactions with the Avengers and the world around him shape his character, making him distinct from J.A.R.V.I.S.
It is also worth noting that Vision possesses the Mind Stone, which grants him additional powers and abilities that J.A.R.V.I.S. did not possess. This further distinguishes Vision from his predecessor and showcases his unique nature.
While J.A.R.V.I.S. serves as the foundation for Vision’s creation, Vision is not simply J.A.R.V.I.S. in physical form. Vision is a distinct entity with his own consciousness, identity, and powers.
