To switch your AirPods between your Mac and iPhone quickly, you don’t need to go through the hassle of manually re-pairing them with each device. The process is actually quite seamless and convenient.
First, make sure that your AirPods are connected to both your Mac and iPhone. This usually happens automatically once you’ve paired them with one device. However, if they’re not already connected to the other device, you can do so by following these steps:
1. On your Mac, click on the Bluetooth icon in the menu bar at the top right corner of the screen.
2. From the drop-down menu, select your AirPods under the “Devices” section. If they’re already connected, you’ll see a checkmark next to them. If not, click on the “Connect” option next to your AirPods.
3. On your iPhone, swipe up from the bottom of the screen (or from the top right corner on iPhone X or later models) to open the Control Center.
4. Tap on the Bluetooth icon to enable it if it’s not already turned on.
5. In the list of available devices, you should see your AirPods. Tap on them to connect.
Now that your AirPods are connected to both devices, switching between them is a breeze. Here’s how you can do it:
1. On your Mac, click on the Bluetooth icon in the menu bar again.
2. This time, hover your cursor over your AirPods in the drop-down menu. You’ll notice a small arrow pointing upwards next to them.
3. Click on the arrow, and a list of available devices will appear. Select your iPhone from the list.
4. Your AirPods will now switch seamlessly to your iPhone, and you can start using them for audio on your phone.
To switch back to your Mac, simply repeat the above steps, but this time select your Mac from the list of available devices.
The beauty of this process is that it works even if your AirPods are already connected to multiple devices. It saves you the hassle of unpairing and repairing them each time you want to switch devices.
I personally find this feature incredibly useful, as I often switch between my Mac and iPhone throughout the day. Whether I’m working on my Mac and then receive a call on my iPhone, or listening to music on my iPhone and then need to join a Zoom meeting on my Mac, being able to switch my AirPods seamlessly between the two devices is a game-changer.
So, give it a try! Once you get the hang of it, you’ll wonder how you ever lived without this convenient feature.
