To save a location on Google Earth, follow these steps:
1. Open Google Earth: Launch the Google Earth application on your computer or open it through your web browser by visiting earth.google.com.
2. Access My Places: In the left-hand panel of Google Earth, under the “Places” section, you will find “My Places.” Click on it to expand the menu.
3. Save the location: Once you have found the desired location on the map, use Ctrl + left mouse key to click on that spot. This action will drop a placemark at the selected location.
4. Save Place As: Right-click on the placemark you just created and a small menu will appear. From this menu, select “Save Place As.”
5. Specify the file name: In the box that appears, you will see a “Save as” field. Here, you can type in the name you want to give to the saved location. Make sure to choose a name that is meaningful and descriptive.
6. Choose a save location: In the same box, you will find a “Where” field with a drop-down list. Click on the drop-down list and choose the location on your computer where you want to save the file. You can select a specific folder or simply save it to the default location.
7. Save the file: Once you have chosen the file name and the save location, click on the “Save” button. Google Earth will save the location as a .kmz file, which stands for Keyhole Markup Language Zipped.
8. Access the saved location: You can now access the saved location by going to the location on your computer where you saved the .kmz file. Double-click on the file, and it will open in Google Earth, taking you directly to the saved location.
Saving locations on Google Earth is a convenient way to mark important places, plan trips, or share specific locations with others. By following these steps, you can easily save and access your favorite places on the platform.
Note: It is worth mentioning that Google Earth also allows you to save locations as bookmarks within the application itself. This feature provides quick access to your favorite places without the need to save them as separate files. To create a bookmark, simply click on the star icon in the top toolbar of Google Earth while at the desired location.
