Deleting your Gmail account does not delete everything from your Google Account. When you delete your Gmail address and emails, you are only removing that specific part of your account. Other services like Google Drive, Google Photos, and Google Calendar will still be accessible with your Google Account.
I recently went through the process of deleting my Gmail account, and I can share my personal experience. I had accumulated a lot of emails over the years and decided I wanted a fresh start. Here are the steps I followed to delete my Gmail account:
1. Sign in to your Google Account: Go to the Google Account sign-in page and enter your email and password to access your account.
2. Navigate to your Google Account settings: Once you are signed in, click on your profile picture or initial in the top right corner of the page. From the dropdown menu, select “Manage your Google Account.”
3. Go to the Data & Personalization section: In your Google Account settings, click on the “Data & Personalization” tab on the left-hand side of the page.
4. Scroll down to the Download, delete, or make a plan for your data section: Under this section, you will find the option to “Delete a service or your account.” Click on it.
5. Select “Delete a Google service”: On the next page, you will see a list of Google services. Find and click on “Delete a service,” which is located next to the trash bin icon.
6. Confirm your identity: Google will require you to enter your password again to ensure that it’s you who wants to delete the service. Enter your password when prompted.
7. Find Gmail in the list of services: Scroll through the list of services and locate “Gmail.” Click on the trash bin icon next to it.
8. Follow the on-screen instructions: Google will provide you with some information about what happens when you delete your Gmail account. Read through it carefully and make sure you understand the consequences. If you’re ready to proceed, click on the “Delete” button.
9. Review and confirm: Google will ask you to review the actions you’re about to take. Double-check that you have selected the correct service, which in this case is Gmail. Once you are sure, click on the “Delete Gmail” button.
10. Provide an alternate email address: Google will ask you to provide an alternate email address to continue using other Google services. This email will become your new primary email address for your Google Account.
11. Confirm the deletion: After entering the alternate email address, click on the “Send Verification Email” button. Google will send a verification email to this address to confirm your ownership. Follow the instructions in the email to complete the process.
It’s important to note that deleting your Gmail account will permanently delete all your emails and associated data. This includes emails, contacts, and any settings or filters you may have had. It’s a good idea to back up any important emails or data before deleting your account.
Once you have deleted your Gmail account, you will no longer be able to send, receive, or access any emails associated with that account. However, your Google Account will still exist, and you can continue using other Google services like Google Drive and Google Calendar.
Deleting your Gmail account does not delete everything from your Google Account. It only removes your Gmail address and associated emails. Other Google services will still be accessible with your Google Account.
