Drake’s cakes did go out of business. I remember when Hostess Brands, the company that owned Drake’s, announced that they were going bankrupt. It was a sad day for fans of these delicious treats. Drake’s had been around for decades, and their cakes were a staple in many households.
But luckily, there was a glimmer of hope. McKee Foods Corp., the company that makes Little Debbie snacks, stepped in and acquired Drake’s. I was relieved to hear this news because it meant that Drake’s cakes might not be gone forever.
And now, it seems that my hopes have been realized. McKee Foods Corp. recently announced that they will start shipping Drake’s most popular treats to grocery and convenience stores in the Northeast. I can’t tell you how excited I am to be able to enjoy Devil Dogs, Coffee Cakes, Ring Dings, and Yodels once again.
I’m especially thrilled about the return of Devil Dogs. These cream-filled chocolate cakes with their distinctive shape and texture were always a favorite of mine. And who can resist a delicious Coffee Cake with its crumbly topping and moist, cinnamon-flavored cake?
I’m also looking forward to indulging in some Ring Dings and Yodels. These chocolate-covered treats with their creamy centers were always a special treat. I used to love unwrapping them and savoring every bite.
I’m grateful that McKee Foods Corp. saw the value in keeping Drake’s cakes alive. It’s not easy for a company to step in and revive a brand that has been a part of people’s lives for so long. But they recognized the nostalgia and loyal following that Drake’s had, and they made it happen.
I’m sure that many people in the Northeast are just as thrilled as I am about the return of Drake’s cakes. It’s like a piece of our childhood has been restored. I can’t wait to see those familiar yellow boxes on the store shelves once again.
So, to answer your question, yes, Drake’s cakes did go out of business. But thanks to McKee Foods Corp., they are making a comeback. And I, for one, couldn’t be happier.
