Where do uninstalled apps go?

Answered by Ricardo McCardle

When I first got my Android phone, I was excited to try out all sorts of apps from the Google Play Store. But as time went on, I realized that some of the apps I had downloaded were not useful or were taking up too much space on my phone. So, I decided to uninstall them. But where did these uninstalled apps go? I was curious to find out.

I started by opening the Google Play Store on my phone. It’s the little shopping bag icon with a colorful triangle on it. Once I had it open, I tapped on the profile picture icon at the top right corner of the screen. A menu popped up, and I selected “Manage apps & device” from the list.

This brought me to a new screen with various tabs. I tapped on the “Manage” tab, and then I saw a button labeled “Installed.” I pressed it, and a menu appeared. From that menu, I chose “Not installed.” And there it was, a list of all the apps I had uninstalled from my phone.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that the list included not just the apps I had recently uninstalled, but also apps that I had uninstalled a long time ago. It was like a trip down memory lane, reminding me of the different phases and interests I had gone through with my phone.

I scrolled through the list, and some apps caught my attention. I couldn’t help but wonder why I had uninstalled them in the first place. Maybe it was because I found a better alternative or maybe I just needed to free up some space on my phone. Whatever the reason, it was interesting to see these apps again.

But the question still remained: where did these uninstalled apps go? Well, it turns out that when you uninstall an app from your Android phone, it’s not completely gone. The app itself is removed from your phone’s storage, but a record of it is still kept in your Google Play Store account.

This is great news because it means that if I ever want to reinstall one of these apps, I can easily do so. All I have to do is go back to the Google Play Store, find the app in my list of uninstalled apps, and tap on the “Install” button. The app will then be downloaded and installed on my phone again, just like magic.

So, if you’re like me and have uninstalled apps from your Android phone, don’t worry. They haven’t disappeared into thin air. You can easily find them again by following these simple steps. It’s a great way to declutter your phone without losing access to your favorite apps.
