My dear Sam,
You are my best and most loved friend. I am so happy for you and Rosie, and of course, darling Eleanor. That is why I must say this to you. As I sit here, at the end of my journey, I cannot help but reflect on all that has happened. The burden of the Ring has been lifted, and Middle-earth is saved. But in the midst of this joy, I cannot shake the feeling of sorrow and loss.
Sam, my loyal companion, I cannot express how grateful I am to have had you by my side throughout this perilous adventure. Your unwavering loyalty, bravery, and friendship have been a constant source of strength for me. I could not have made it to Mount Doom without you, and for that, I am forever indebted to you.
But now, as I write this letter, I find myself faced with a difficult decision. I have been given the opportunity to sail to the Undying Lands, a place of peace and healing, where the wounds inflicted upon me by the Ring can finally be mended. It is a chance for me to find solace and rest after the immense burden I have carried for so long.
Sam, I know this news may come as a shock to you, and I understand if you feel hurt or betrayed. Please know that this decision was not made lightly, and it is not a reflection of my love and admiration for you. You have been like a brother to me, and I will always cherish our friendship.
I want you to know that you are more than capable of leading the Shire in my absence. I have seen your strength and leadership qualities during our journey, and I have no doubt that you will thrive in this new role. The people of the Shire trust and respect you, and they will look to you for guidance.
I also want you to know that I will always be with you in spirit. Though I may not be physically present, my love and support will never waver. I will be watching over you, Rosie, and Eleanor from the Undying Lands, and I will always be there to guide and protect you.
