The American Red Cross was established in 1881 and has been providing assistance to people in need ever since.
As a part of the international Red Cross network, the American Red Cross works closely with other national societies to respond to emergencies and provide relief and support. During major disasters and conflicts around the world, the American Red Cross often sends teams of volunteers and supplies to assist affected communities.
