Starkiller, also known as Galen Marek, is a unique character in the Star Wars universe. He was initially trained by Darth Vader as a secret apprentice, but as the story progresses, he goes through a significant transformation that blurs the line between Sith and Jedi.
At the beginning of his journey, Starkiller unquestionably aligns himself with the dark side of the Force. He embraces his role as a Sith and carries out the bidding of his master, Darth Vader, without question. His actions are fueled by anger, hatred, and a desire for power, all characteristics commonly associated with the Sith.
However, as Starkiller’s story unfolds, he begins to question his allegiance to the dark side. He starts to show compassion and empathy towards others, which are traits more commonly associated with the Jedi.
During his mission to rescue the leaders of the Rebel Alliance, Starkiller makes a pivotal decision. He chooses to confront and ultimately strike down Darth Vader, his former master. This act goes against the Sith code, as it demonstrates a sense of individuality and a rejection of the rule of the master.
After defeating Darth Vader, Starkiller is approached by the spirit of Jedi Master Rahm Kota, who encourages him to embrace the light side of the Force. Starkiller’s subsequent actions reflect this shift in allegiance, as he aids the Rebel Alliance in their fight against the Empire.
Throughout the game, Starkiller’s journey is marked by a constant struggle between the light and dark sides of the Force. He possesses abilities from both sides, utilizing Force lightning and other dark side powers while also displaying Jedi-like skills such as telekinesis and mind control.
In terms of traditional Jedi and Sith classifications, it is challenging to definitively label Starkiller as one or the other. He embodies a gray area, representing the potential for balance between the light and dark sides of the Force.
Personally, I find Starkiller’s character arc to be one of the most fascinating in the Star Wars universe. His journey from a loyal Sith apprentice to a force for good showcases the complexities of the Force and the internal struggles of individuals within that universe.
Starkiller’s alignment cannot be easily categorized as either Sith or Jedi. He starts as a Sith but undergoes a transformation that brings him closer to the light side of the Force. His actions and abilities throughout the story demonstrate a unique blend of both dark and light side characteristics, making him a truly exceptional and complex character.
