How many times can you drop AirPods?

Answered by Jeremy Urbaniak

I’ve had my AirPods for quite some time now, and I’ve dropped them on numerous occasions. In fact, I’ve lost count of how many times they’ve slipped out of my hands or fell out of my pocket. But here’s the interesting part – despite all the drops, my AirPods are still functioning perfectly fine.

I’ll admit, at first, I was a bit worried every time I dropped them. I mean, they are small and fragile-looking, so it’s natural to assume that a fall would cause some damage. But to my surprise, they have proven to be quite resilient.

Most of the time, my AirPods have landed on hard surfaces like wooden floors or tiles. Occasionally, they even took a tumble on concrete pavements. But in every instance, there was no noticeable damage whatsoever. No cracks, no scratches, nothing.

One particular incident comes to mind when I accidentally dropped my AirPods from a considerable height. They fell out of my ears while I was on a balcony and landed on the concrete ground below. I was sure that this time they would be damaged beyond repair. However, to my relief, they still worked perfectly fine. It was honestly quite impressive.

I’ve also spoken to other AirPods users, and many of them have similar experiences. They’ve dropped their AirPods multiple times, and yet, they haven’t faced any significant issues. It seems that Apple has designed them to withstand a fair amount of accidental drops.

Of course, I must mention that there are instances where people have reported damage after dropping their AirPods. But these cases appear to be less common. And in most cases, the damage seems to be minor, such as a small scratch or scuff.

So, while I can’t say with certainty how many times you can drop your AirPods before they get damaged, I can confidently say that they are more durable than they may appear. As long as you don’t stomp on them or subject them to extreme force, there’s a good chance they’ll survive without any noticeable or lasting issues.

Based on my personal experiences and the feedback from other AirPods users, it seems that dropping your AirPods multiple times on hard surfaces is unlikely to cause significant damage. However, it’s always a good idea to handle them with care and try to avoid dropping them whenever possible.
