As of my knowledge up to date, there are two Lagavulin Offerman Editions that have been released. The first edition was introduced in 2019, followed by the second edition in the spring of 2021. Both editions share some similarities, but each offers its own unique twist.
The Lagavulin Offerman Editions are a result of a collaboration between Lagavulin Distillery and actor/comedian Nick Offerman. Nick Offerman is well-known for his love and appreciation of Lagavulin single malt scotch, particularly the 16-year-old expression. His devotion to the brand led to the creation of these special editions that bear his name.
The first Lagavulin Offerman Edition was an 11 year old single malt scotch. It boasted the classic Lagavulin style, known for its rich, peaty, and smoky character. The whisky was matured for 11 years in oak casks, allowing it to develop its distinct flavors and aromas. It was a limited edition release and received high praise from whisky enthusiasts.
Building on the success of the first edition, Lagavulin introduced the second Lagavulin Offerman Edition in 2021. This edition maintained the 11-year maturation period but added an additional four months of finishing in Guinness casks. This finishing process in Guinness casks infused the whisky with unique flavors and complexities, offering a different experience compared to the first edition. It was a creative and bold move to combine the flavors of Lagavulin with the rich stout characteristics of Guinness.
Both Lagavulin Offerman Editions pay homage to Nick Offerman’s appreciation for Lagavulin and his distinct palate. The collaboration between a beloved actor and a renowned distillery has resulted in two exceptional whiskies that appeal to whisky connoisseurs and fans of Nick Offerman alike.
It’s worth noting that whisky releases are subject to change and new editions may be introduced in the future. As a whisky enthusiast, I always keep an eye out for new releases and eagerly anticipate any future Lagavulin Offerman Editions that may come our way.
There are currently two Lagavulin Offerman Editions available, with each offering its own unique characteristics. The first edition was a traditional 11-year-old Lagavulin single malt scotch, while the second edition featured an additional four months of finishing in Guinness casks. These limited edition releases are a testament to the enduring partnership between Lagavulin and Nick Offerman, as well as their commitment to producing exceptional whiskies.
