One of the dogs, a small and scrappy-looking mutt, caught my attention. It seemed to be the leader of the pack and started wagging its tail at me.

To my surprise, the house was occupied by a kind-hearted old man who had been taking care of the dogs. He explained that he had rescued them from a nearby village where they were mistreated. He was overjoyed to see them free and thanked me profusely for my help.
In return for my efforts, the old man allowed me to choose one of the dogs to take home with me. It was a tough decision, as they were all so adorable, but I ultimately settled on the scrappy mutt that had led me to the old man’s house.
