To stop Reels from autoplaying, follow the steps below:
1. Open the Instagram app on your device and go to your profile page.
2. Look for the three horizontal lines in the top right corner and tap on them to access the menu.
3. Scroll down and tap on the “Settings” option.
4. In the Settings menu, look for the “Accessibility, display, and language” section and tap on it.
5. Within this section, you will find various options related to the app’s display and behavior. Tap on “Data usage.”
6. In the Data usage menu, you will see an option called “Autoplay.” Tap on it.
7. You will be presented with three choices: “On mobile data and Wi-Fi,” “On Wi-Fi only,” and “Never.” Select the “Never” option to prevent Reels, videos, and GIFs from automatically playing as you scroll.
8. Once you have selected “Never,” exit the settings menu.
By following these steps, you have successfully disabled autoplay for Reels on Instagram. Now, when you scroll through your feed, Reels will no longer play automatically. Instead, you will have the choice to manually play them by tapping on them.
Please note that these instructions are based on the current version of the Instagram app. The steps may vary slightly depending on future updates, but the general concept should remain the same.
If you are using Instagram on iOS or Android, there is an additional setting you can adjust to prevent media previews, including Reels, from autoplaying. Here’s how to do it:
1. Open the Instagram app on your iOS or Android device.
2. Tap on your profile icon at the bottom right corner of the screen to go to your profile.
3. Look for the three horizontal lines in the top right corner and tap on them to access the menu.
4. Scroll down and tap on the “Settings” option.
5. In the Settings menu, go to “Display and Sound.”
6. Within this section, you will find an option called “Media previews.” By default, it is usually checked.
7. Uncheck the “Media previews” option to prevent Reels and other media from autoplaying.
8. Exit the settings menu.
With this additional setting disabled, you should no longer experience autoplaying Reels or media previews when using the Instagram app on your iOS or Android device.
