How do I set a homepage in Safari?

Answered by Jarrod Smith

To set a homepage in Safari on your Mac, follow these steps:

1. Open the Safari app on your Mac.

2. Click on “Safari” in the top menu bar and select “Preferences” from the drop-down menu. Alternatively, you can press the Command key (⌘) and comma (,) together to open the Preferences window.

3. In the Preferences window, click on the “General” tab, which should be the first tab in the row.

4. Look for the “Homepage” field, which is located at the top of the General tab. This is where you can enter the webpage address for your desired homepage.

5. Enter the URL of the webpage you want to set as your homepage. For example, you can enter “https://www.google.com” if you want Google as your homepage.

6. If you’re currently viewing the webpage you want to set as your homepage, you can simply click the “Set to Current Page” button next to the Homepage field. This will automatically set the URL of the current webpage as your homepage.

7. Safari gives you the option to choose when your homepage is shown. You can select from three options: “Homepage,” “New windows open with,” and “New tabs open with.” Click on the drop-down menus next to each option to select your preferred setting.

– “Homepage” will load your set homepage whenever you open Safari or click on the home button.
– “New windows open with” allows you to choose what page opens when you open a new window in Safari.
– “New tabs open with” lets you select what page opens when you open a new tab in Safari.

8. Once you have entered the desired URL and selected your preferred settings, close the Preferences window.

From now on, whenever you open Safari or click on the home button, the webpage you set as your homepage will load automatically. Similarly, new windows or tabs will open with the specified page according to your selected settings.

Remember, you can always change your homepage by following these steps again and updating the URL in the Homepage field.
