Wemo still works with Alexa! I have been using Wemo smart plugs in my home for a while now, and I can say that integrating them with Alexa has been a breeze. It’s really convenient to be able to control my Wemo devices using voice commands through my Alexa-enabled devices.
To set up the connection between Wemo and Alexa, you’ll need to make sure you have the Wemo app installed on your smartphone or tablet. Once you have the app, follow these steps:
1. Open the Wemo app and make sure your Wemo smart plug is set up and connected to your Wi-Fi network.
2. Open the Alexa app on your smartphone or tablet.
3. Tap on the menu button in the top left corner, then select “Skills & Games.”
4. Search for the “Wemo” skill in the Alexa Skills store.
5. Enable the Wemo skill and sign in with your Wemo account credentials.
6. Follow the prompts to link your Wemo account to your Alexa account.
7. Once the accounts are linked, Alexa will discover your Wemo devices automatically.
Once the setup is complete, you can start using Alexa to control your Wemo smart plug. You can simply say commands like “Alexa, turn on the living room lamp” or “Alexa, turn off the bedroom fan.” Alexa will send the command to your Wemo smart plug, and it will respond accordingly.
It’s worth noting that you can also group multiple Wemo devices together in the Alexa app. This allows you to control multiple devices with a single command. For example, you can create a group called “Living Room” and add your Wemo smart plug for the lamp and any other compatible smart devices in the living room. Then, you can say “Alexa, turn off the Living Room” to turn off all the devices in that group.
In addition to Alexa, Wemo smart plugs also work with Google Assistant. So if you have Google Assistant-enabled devices like Google Home or Nest Hub, you can control your Wemo devices using voice commands through those devices as well.
I’ve found the integration between Wemo and Alexa to be seamless and reliable. It’s incredibly convenient to be able to control my smart plugs with just my voice, and it has definitely made my smart home experience even better.
