Apple has added screen sharing functionality to FaceTime. This new feature allows you to share your screen with your friends during a FaceTime call, making it easier to collaborate, show presentations, or simply share what’s happening on your screen.
To use the screen sharing feature in FaceTime, make sure you have the latest version of iOS or iPadOS installed on your device. Then, follow these steps:
1. Start a FaceTime call with your friend(s) as you normally would. You can do this by opening the FaceTime app and selecting a contact to call, or by tapping on the FaceTime icon in a conversation within the Messages app.
2. Once the FaceTime call is connected, you’ll see a new controls panel at the bottom of the screen. This panel includes buttons for muting your microphone, enabling or disabling the camera, and more.
3. To initiate screen sharing, tap on the “Screen Share” button at the top right corner of the controls panel. This button looks like two overlapping rectangles.
4. A pop-up menu will appear, giving you options to share your entire screen or just a specific app or window. Choose the desired option based on what you want to share.
5. After selecting an option, a preview of your screen will appear. You can still see your FaceTime call in a smaller window while sharing your screen.
6. Start interacting with your screen as you normally would, and your friend(s) on the FaceTime call will be able to see whatever you’re doing.
7. To stop screen sharing, tap on the “Stop Sharing” button at the top left corner of the screen. This button looks like a computer monitor with an arrow pointing up.
It’s worth noting that screen sharing in FaceTime is currently available on iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices running the latest software versions. However, the person you’re chatting with also needs to have an updated device and software to be able to view your shared screen. Additionally, screen sharing is only available during a FaceTime call and cannot be initiated outside of a call.
Apple has indeed added screen sharing to FaceTime, providing users with a convenient way to share their screens with friends and enhance collaboration during video calls.
