Unlocking a deadbolt lock can be a tricky task, especially if you don’t have the key. Luckily, there is a method using two bobby pins that can help you get through this predicament. I’ve personally used this technique a few times, and it has worked like a charm.
To start, you’ll need two bobby pins. Make sure they are the kind with the closed loop at one end. Usually, these are the ones that work best for this method. Take one of the bobby pins and bend it at a 90-degree angle about one-third of the way from the closed end. This bent part will act as the handle for your makeshift lock-picking tool.
Next, insert the straight end of the bobby pin into the bottom portion of the lock, where the key would usually go. Gently push it in until you feel some resistance. This is the pin tumblers inside the lock that you need to manipulate.
Take the second bobby pin and break it in half. You’ll only need one of the halves for this method. This shorter piece will serve as the actual pick for the lock. Insert the broken end of this bobby pin into the top portion of the lock, just above the first pin.
Now comes the tricky part. While applying slight tension with the first bobby pin in the bottom of the lock, use the second bobby pin to move the pins inside the lock back and forth. Gently wiggle and jiggle the second pin while trying to find the right amount of pressure to apply.
As you move the second bobby pin, you may feel some resistance or hear some clicking sounds. These are good signs that you are manipulating the pins correctly. Keep experimenting with the amount of tension and the movement of the pins until you feel the lock start to give way.
Once you feel the lock start to turn, continue applying pressure with the first bobby pin while maintaining the picking motion with the second bobby pin. With a bit of luck and finesse, the deadbolt should unlock, and you’ll be able to open the door.
It’s important to note that this method may not work on all deadbolt locks, especially those with more advanced security features. Additionally, attempting to pick a lock without proper authorization is illegal and should only be done in emergency situations or with the owner’s consent.
Unlocking a deadbolt lock without a key can be achieved using two bobby pins. By inserting one pin into the bottom portion and using the other pin to manipulate the pins inside the lock, you can unlock the deadbolt with some patience and practice. However, always remember to use this knowledge responsibly and ethically.
