Earwax can definitely make AirPods fall out. I learned this the hard way after using my AirPods for a while without properly cleaning them. I noticed that they started to slip out more easily, especially when I was sweating or moving around a lot. It was really frustrating because I loved using my AirPods, but they were becoming almost unusable due to the constant slipping.
I realized that the problem was likely caused by a build-up of earwax in the AirPods. When you wear the AirPods, they sit inside your ear canal, and any earwax that is present can get transferred onto the AirPods. Over time, this earwax can accumulate and cause the AirPods to fit too loosely in your ears.
Not only does earwax make the AirPods slip out easily, but it can also affect the sound quality. The earwax can block the audio output, making it sound muffled or distorted. This was another issue I noticed when my AirPods were dirty.
To solve these problems, I started cleaning my AirPods regularly. I would gently remove the ear tips and clean them with a soft cloth or cotton swab. I also used a slightly damp cloth to wipe down the rest of the AirPods, being careful not to get any water inside the charging case or the speaker grille. This helped to remove any dirt, earwax, or sweat that had built up on the AirPods.
In addition to regular cleaning, I also started using foam or silicone ear tips. These provide a better seal in the ear canal, preventing the AirPods from slipping out as easily. The foam or silicone material also helps to absorb sweat and reduce discomfort during long periods of use.
I’ve found that keeping my AirPods clean and using proper ear tips has greatly improved their fit and performance. By taking the time to clean them regularly, I can enjoy my AirPods without constantly worrying about them falling out or the sound quality being affected. So, if you’re experiencing similar issues with your AirPods, I highly recommend giving them a good clean and considering alternative ear tips.
