One of the things that stood out to me about Burlington is its strong sense of community and culture. The city is home to a number of local businesses, restaurants, and artists, giving it a distinct and authentic feel. I loved exploring the various shops and boutiques in the downtown area, where I found everything from handmade crafts to locally sourced food products.
Another highlight of Burlington is its outdoor recreational opportunities. In the summer, you can rent a bike and ride along the scenic Burlington Bike Path, which stretches for miles along the lakefront. There are also several parks and beaches where you can relax and soak up the sun. And if you’re feeling adventurous, you can even take a ferry across Lake Champlain to explore the nearby islands.
But Burlington isn’t just a summer destination. In the fall, the city comes alive with vibrant autumn colors, making it the perfect time to visit and take in the beauty of the surrounding landscape. I had the chance to go on a hike in the nearby Green Mountains, and the views were absolutely breathtaking.
And let’s not forget about winter! While some may think of Vermont as a summer destination, Burlington is actually a great place to visit in the winter too. The city is just a short drive away from several ski areas, making it a popular base for winter sports enthusiasts. And if skiing or snowboarding isn’t your thing, you can still enjoy the cozy atmosphere of Burlington’s downtown area, with its charming cafes, bookstores, and art galleries.
One of the biggest draws of Burlington is its proximity to Montreal. Just a quick drive or bus ride away, you can easily take a day trip to explore the vibrant culture and cuisine of this Canadian city. I had the chance to visit Montreal during my stay in Burlington and it was such a memorable experience.
