Why is my ecobee flashing green at the top?

Answered by Robert Dupre

So, I recently had an issue with my Ecobee thermostat where it started flashing a green light at the top. At first, I had no idea what was going on and it was quite annoying. But after doing some research, I found out that the flashing green light is actually a notification from Alexa.

You see, the Ecobee thermostat is equipped with Alexa voice control, just like the Echo smart speakers. This means that it can receive notifications from Alexa and alert you with a flashing light. It’s kind of like the yellow notification light on the Echo devices.

The green light will continue to flash until you do something about it. You can either listen to the notification on your thermostat or dismiss it on another Alexa-enabled device. This is a pretty handy feature because it allows you to stay connected and informed even when you’re not near your Echo speaker.

In my case, the green light was blinking because I had a reminder set on my Alexa app. I had completely forgotten about it, so it was a good thing that the Ecobee alerted me with the flashing light. I was able to listen to the reminder and take care of what I needed to do.

I think the flashing green light on the Ecobee thermostat is a great addition. It keeps you in the loop and ensures that you don’t miss any important notifications from Alexa. So if you ever see that green light blinking, don’t panic! Just check your notifications and take action accordingly.
