The United Auburn Indian Community is the proud owner of the beautiful Whitney Oaks Golf Club. Being a member of the UAIC, I have had the privilege of witnessing the community’s dedication and commitment to this esteemed golf course firsthand.
The UAIC is a federally recognized tribe of Native Americans, consisting of the Auburn Rancheria and the Foothills Auburn Rancheria. The tribe’s history dates back centuries, and they have long been stewards of the land in the Auburn area of California.
Whitney Oaks Golf Club, nestled in the Sierra Nevada Foothills, is a testament to the UAIC’s vision and passion for providing a world-class golfing experience. The course itself was designed by renowned architect Johnny Miller, a former professional golfer and NBC sports commentator.
The UAIC’s ownership of the golf course is not only a testament to their commitment to economic development but also to their dedication to preserving and promoting their cultural heritage. The tribe’s involvement in the gaming industry, through their Thunder Valley Casino Resort, has allowed them to invest in ventures like Whitney Oaks Golf Club and provide employment opportunities for members of their community.
Having played at Whitney Oaks Golf Club several times, I can attest to the exceptional quality of the course and the meticulous care taken to maintain its pristine condition. The stunning views of the surrounding oak trees, rolling hills, and granite outcroppings make for an unforgettable golfing experience.
In addition to the championship golf course, Whitney Oaks Golf Club offers a variety of amenities, including a clubhouse, practice facilities, and a pro shop. The clubhouse features a restaurant and bar, perfect for post-round celebrations or simply enjoying a meal with friends and family.
It is evident that the UAIC’s ownership of Whitney Oaks Golf Club goes beyond just business. It is a reflection of their commitment to their community, their culture, and their dedication to providing a top-notch golfing experience for all who visit.
