Which prophet spoke to jinns?

Answered by Frank Schwing

In Islam, there are several prophets who are believed to have had the ability to communicate with jinn. One of these prophets is Solomon, also known as Prophet Sulaiman in Arabic. According to Islamic tradition, Solomon was not only a wise and just ruler, but he was also blessed with extraordinary gifts and abilities from Allah (God).

One of the most prominent abilities attributed to Solomon is his ability to communicate with both animals and jinn. This is mentioned in the Qur’an, the holy book of Islam, where it is stated that Solomon was given the power to understand the speech of birds and animals:

“And Solomon inherited David. He said, ‘O people, we have been taught the language of birds, and we have been given from all things. Indeed, this is evident bounty.'” (Qur’an 27:16)

The Qur’an also mentions Solomon’s ability to command the jinn:

“And to Solomon [We subjected] the wind – its morning [journey was that of] a month – and its afternoon [journey was that of] a month, and We made flow for him a spring of [liquid] copper. And among the jinn were those who worked for him by the permission of his Lord. And whoever deviated among them from Our command – We will make him taste of the punishment of the Blaze.” (Qur’an 34:12-13)

It is believed that Solomon used his ability to communicate with jinn for various purposes, including seeking their assistance in building structures and performing tasks that would otherwise be difficult for humans alone. The jinn, in Islamic belief, are supernatural beings created by Allah from smokeless fire. They are said to possess free will and can be either good or evil.

Solomon’s ability to command the jinn is often associated with the story of how he built the magnificent Temple of Jerusalem, also known as Solomon’s Temple. According to Islamic tradition, Solomon used the jinn to help him in the construction of this grand structure, as well as in other tasks such as mining precious metals and stones.

It is important to note that although Solomon had the ability to communicate with jinn, it does not mean that all prophets had the same ability. The ability to communicate with jinn was a unique gift bestowed upon Solomon by Allah.

According to Islamic tradition, Solomon is believed to be one of the prophets who had the ability to communicate with jinn. This ability is mentioned in the Qur’an, where it is stated that Solomon could understand the speech of birds, animals, and command the jinn. Solomon’s ability to communicate with jinn played a significant role in various aspects of his life, including the construction of important structures and seeking assistance in difficult tasks.
