Where is my Gmail label list?

Answered by Robert Dupre

The Gmail label list is a handy tool that allows you to organize and categorize your emails for easy access and management. If you’re wondering where to find this label list, look no further than the left-hand sidebar of your Gmail interface. It’s located above the Google Hangouts Panel.

When you open your Gmail account, you’ll notice the sidebar on the left side of the screen. It provides quick access to various features and folders within Gmail. The label list is positioned just above the Google Hangouts Panel, which is typically displayed at the bottom of the sidebar.

To locate the label list, simply scroll down the sidebar until you reach the section above the Hangouts Panel. Here, you’ll find all the labels you have created to organize your emails. These labels act as virtual folders, allowing you to sort and group your messages based on specific criteria or categories.

The label list is particularly useful if you receive a high volume of emails or if you want to keep your inbox organized. By assigning labels to your emails, you can easily filter and search for messages related to a particular topic, project, or sender.

If you haven’t created any labels yet, the label list may appear empty or contain only default labels provided by Gmail, such as “Inbox,” “Sent,” “Drafts,” and “Trash.” However, once you start creating your own labels, they will be listed in this section for quick access.

To create a new label, you can click on the “+ Create new label” option at the bottom of the label list. This will open a window where you can enter the name of your new label and customize its settings. Once created, the label will appear in the label list, ready for you to assign to relevant emails.

In addition to accessing the label list from the sidebar, you can also access it when viewing an individual email. Simply open the email and look for the label icon, which resembles a small tag, located just above the subject line. Clicking on this icon will display a dropdown menu showing all the labels assigned to that particular email.

The Gmail label list can be found on the left-hand sidebar above the Google Hangouts Panel. It serves as a hub for all the labels you have created to organize and categorize your emails. By utilizing labels effectively, you can streamline your email management and easily locate specific messages when needed.
