When you delete a file or folder in Dropbox, it doesn’t immediately disappear forever. Dropbox keeps a record of all deleted files and folders in a section called “Deleted files.” This allows you to recover or restore any deleted items if needed.
To access the deleted files in Dropbox, you need to sign in to the Dropbox website using your account credentials. Once signed in, you will see a left sidebar with various options. Look for and click on the “Deleted files” option.
In the “Deleted files” section, you will find a list of all the files and folders that you have deleted from your Dropbox account. The list will display the names and dates of deletion for each item.
To restore a deleted file or folder, simply click on its name in the list. If you want to restore multiple files or folders at once, you can do so by clicking on the checkbox icon next to each item. Once you have selected the files or folders you want to restore, click on the “Restore” button.
Dropbox will then restore the selected files or folders to their original location in your Dropbox account. If the original location no longer exists, Dropbox will create a new folder with the same name and restore the items there.
It’s important to note that the deleted files in Dropbox will only be stored for a certain period of time. The length of time they are kept varies depending on your Dropbox plan. For example, if you have a Dropbox Basic (free) account, deleted files are retained for 30 days. However, if you have a Dropbox Plus or Professional account, deleted files are kept for 180 days.
After the specified retention period, Dropbox permanently deletes the files and they cannot be recovered. Therefore, it’s crucial to restore any deleted files or folders within the allowed timeframe if you need them.
When you delete files or folders in Dropbox, they are not immediately erased. Instead, Dropbox moves them to a “Deleted files” section where they can be restored if necessary. By signing in to the Dropbox website, you can access the deleted files and restore them to their original location. Just remember to restore the items within the specified retention period to prevent permanent deletion.
