When did Instagram first start?

Answered by Willian Lymon

I remember when Instagram first started, it was back in April 2012. At that time, it was only available on Android devices. I was so excited to try it out because I had heard so much about it. I quickly downloaded the app and started exploring its features.

The interface was simple and intuitive, allowing users to easily upload and share photos with their followers. It didn’t take long for Instagram to gain popularity, and soon, everyone I knew was using it.

Later that year, in November 2012, Instagram released a feature-limited desktop interface. This meant that users could now access their accounts and browse through photos on their computers. It was a great addition for those times when I didn’t have my phone with me.

In June 2014, Instagram expanded its reach even further by launching an app for Fire OS, the operating system used by Amazon’s Fire tablets. This made Instagram accessible to a whole new audience.

Then, in October 2016, Instagram released an app specifically designed for Windows 10. This was exciting news for Windows users like me, as we finally had a dedicated app for our devices.

Throughout its journey, Instagram has seen tremendous growth. As of October 2015, over 40 billion photos had been uploaded to the platform. That’s an incredible number and goes to show just how popular and widely used Instagram has become.

I have personally witnessed the evolution of Instagram and how it has become an integral part of our lives. It has changed the way we share moments, connect with others, and even how we perceive and appreciate photography.

Instagram first started in April 2012 with its release on Android devices. It has since expanded to various platforms, including desktop, Fire OS, and Windows 10. The app has seen massive success, with billions of photos being uploaded by users. It has truly revolutionized the way we capture and share moments in our lives.
