At Fort Drum, there are several units that make up the 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry). I had the privilege of serving at Fort Drum for a few years, so I can provide some personal insights into the units that are stationed there.

1. 1st Brigade Combat Team: This is one of the brigade combat teams within the 10th Mountain Division. It consists of infantry, cavalry, artillery, engineer, and support units. During my time at Fort Drum, I had the opportunity to serve in this brigade and witnessed firsthand their dedication to training and readiness.

2. 2nd Brigade Combat Team: Another brigade combat team within the division, the 2nd Brigade is also composed of infantry, cavalry, artillery, engineer, and support units. They have a reputation for their expertise in mountain warfare, which is essential for missions in rugged and challenging terrains.

3. 3rd Brigade Combat Team: The 3rd Brigade is the final brigade combat team in the 10th Mountain Division. Like the other brigades, it consists of infantry, cavalry, artillery, engineer, and support units. During my time at Fort Drum, I had the opportunity to work alongside soldiers from the 3rd Brigade, and I was impressed by their professionalism and dedication to their craft.

4. 10th Combat Aviation Brigade: The 10th Combat Aviation Brigade provides aviation support to the 10th Mountain Division. They have a diverse fleet of helicopters, including attack helicopters, utility helicopters, and medical evacuation helicopters. Their pilots and crews undergo rigorous training to ensure they can effectively support ground operations.

5. 10th Mountain Division Artillery: This unit provides artillery support to the division. They have various artillery batteries equipped with howitzers and other artillery systems. Their mission is to provide accurate and timely firepower when needed.

6. 10th Mountain Sustainment Brigade: The 10th Mountain Sustainment Brigade is responsible for providing logistical support to the division. They ensure that the soldiers have the necessary supplies, equipment, and maintenance support to carry out their missions effectively.

7. 10th Mountain Division Band: The 10th Mountain Division Band is the musical ensemble that represents the division. They perform at various military ceremonies and events, boosting morale and fostering a sense of pride within the division.

These are the main units that make up the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum. Each unit plays a crucial role in the overall readiness and effectiveness of the division. I am grateful for the opportunity to have served alongside these dedicated soldiers during my time at Fort Drum.
