To turn on quick text or message shortcuts on your iPhone, follow these steps:
1. Open the “Settings” app on your iPhone. You can find the Settings icon on your home screen, which looks like a grey gear.
2. In the Settings menu, scroll down and tap on “General.” It is represented by a grey icon with gears.
3. Within the General settings, locate and tap on “Keyboard.” This option is usually towards the top of the list.
4. Under the Keyboard settings, you will see various options. Look for “Text Replacement” or “Add New Shortcut” and tap on it.
5. On the Text Replacement or Add New Shortcut screen, you will find a list of existing shortcuts if you have any. To add a new shortcut, tap on the “+” or “Add New Shortcut” button, usually located at the top right corner of the screen.
6. Now, you will see two text fields: “Phrase” and “Shortcut.” In the “Phrase” field, enter the text you want to appear when you type the shortcut. For example, if you want “On my way!” to appear when you type “omw,” enter “On my way!” in the Phrase field.
7. In the “Shortcut” field, type the shortcut you want to use. Using the previous example, you would enter “omw” in the Shortcut field.
8. Once you have entered the desired phrase and shortcut, tap on “Save” or “Done” to save your new quick text shortcut.
9. You can repeat this process to add more shortcuts as needed.
That’s it! You have now set up quick text or message shortcuts on your iPhone. Whenever you type the shortcut you created, the corresponding phrase will automatically replace it, saving you time and effort while typing messages.
