To permanently leave a workspace in Slack, you can follow these steps:
1. Locate the workspace: From your desktop, look for the Slack icon in your taskbar or application dock and open it. Once you’re logged in, you’ll see a list of workspaces you are a part of on the left sidebar.
2. Find the workspace to leave: In the workspace switcher on the far left of your sidebar, you’ll find the icons representing each workspace you are a member of. Look for the workspace you want to leave and right-click on its icon.
3. Leave the workspace: After right-clicking on the workspace icon, a menu will appear with various options. From this menu, click on the “Leave this workspace” option.
4. Confirmation prompt: Slack will display a confirmation prompt to ensure you want to leave the workspace permanently. Read the prompt carefully and make sure you want to proceed.
5. Confirm and leave: If you are certain about leaving the workspace, click on the “Leave” button in the confirmation prompt. Slack will remove you from the workspace, and you will no longer have access to it or its channels, messages, and members.
It’s important to note that once you leave a workspace, you will lose access to all the content and conversations within it. Therefore, make sure you have saved any important information or files before leaving. Additionally, leaving a workspace does not affect your membership in any other workspaces you may be a part of.
I have personally used this method to leave workspaces in Slack when I no longer needed to be a member. It’s a straightforward process that helps keep your Slack interface clutter-free and ensures you only remain in the workspaces that are relevant to you.
