To create a local user or administrator account on your Windows computer, follow these steps:
1. Start by clicking on the Start menu in the bottom left corner of your screen.
2. From the Start menu, select “Settings” (it looks like a gear icon) to open the Settings app.
3. In the Settings app, click on the “Accounts” option. This will open the Accounts settings page.
4. On the left-hand side of the Accounts page, you will see different options. Select “Family & other users” from the list.
5. On the right-hand side, under the “Other users” section, you will see the option to “Add someone else to this PC.” Click on it.
6. A new window will appear with two options: “Add a family member” and “Add someone else to this PC.” Choose the second option, “Add someone else to this PC.”
7. In the next window, you will be asked to provide the sign-in information for the new user. Since you want to create a local user account, select the option that says, “I don’t have this person’s sign-in information.”
8. On the next page, select the option that says, “Add a user without a Microsoft account.” This will allow you to create a local user account that is not linked to a Microsoft account.
9. Now, you will be prompted to enter a username and password for the new user. Fill in the required fields and click on the “Next” button.
10. you will see a message saying, “You’ve successfully added a new user.” You can choose to either sign in with the new user account or close the window.
Congratulations! You have successfully created a new local user account on your Windows computer. This account will be separate from your existing user account and can be used by someone else who uses the same computer. They will have their own desktop, settings, and files.
It’s important to note that if you want to create an administrator account, you can follow the same steps mentioned above. However, during step 7, instead of selecting “Add a user without a Microsoft account,” you can choose “Sign in with a Microsoft account instead” and provide the necessary information to create an administrator account linked to a Microsoft account.
Creating separate user accounts on your computer can be useful for sharing the device with family members, roommates, or colleagues while maintaining privacy and personalization for each user.
