To create a list box or combo box in Excel, you can follow these steps:
1. Open your Excel workbook and navigate to the worksheet where you want to add the list box.
2. Click on the “Developer” tab in the Excel ribbon. If you don’t see the Developer tab, you may need to enable it first. To do this, go to File > Options > Customize Ribbon, and check the box next to “Developer” under the “Main Tabs” section.
3. Once you’re on the Developer tab, click on the “Insert” button in the Controls group.
4. In the “Form Controls” section of the drop-down menu, you will find the “List box” option. Click on it to insert a list box into your worksheet.
5. After selecting the list box option, your cursor will change to a plus sign. Click and drag on the worksheet to draw the list box at the desired location and size.
6. Now, you need to define the items that will be displayed in the list box. Right-click on the list box and select “Edit Text” from the context menu.
7. In the “Edit Text” dialog box, you can enter the items that you want to display in the list box. You can either type the items directly in the box or copy-paste them from another source. Each item should be entered on a new line.
8. Once you have entered the items, click “OK” to close the dialog box.
9. You can resize the list box if needed by clicking and dragging its borders.
10. To select an item from the list box, simply click on it. You can also use the arrow keys on your keyboard to navigate through the items.
11. To remove the list box, right-click on it and select “Cut” or press the “Delete” key on your keyboard.
That’s it! You have successfully created a list box in Excel. You can now use it to display a list of items and select from them as needed.
