Does taming give XP ark?

Taming dinosaurs in Ark: Survival Evolved does give experience points (XP). When you successfully tame a dinosaur, you will receive a certain amount of XP based on the level and type of dinosaur. This is a great way to earn XP, especially in the early stages of the game when leveling up quickly is crucial.

The amount of XP you receive from taming a dinosaur depends on its level. Generally, higher-level dinosaurs will grant more XP upon taming. For example, taming a low-level dinosaur might give you around 10-20 XP, while taming a high-level dinosaur could reward you with 50-100 XP or more. It’s important to note that taming rare or unique dinosaurs, such as the Rex or Giga, will grant significantly more XP due to their higher levels and increased difficulty in taming.

Taming can be a time-consuming process, as it involves tranquilizing the dinosaur, feeding it the appropriate food, and waiting for it to become tamed. However, the XP gained from taming can be well worth the effort. It not only helps you level up and unlock new engrams but also allows you to progress further in the game.

In addition to the XP gained from taming, there is also a passive XP gain for tamed dinosaurs. When you have a tamed dinosaur in your vicinity while you are logged into the game, it will receive a small amount of XP over time. This passive XP gain is referred to as a “drip” and amounts to 0.66 XP per minute or 1 XP per 90 seconds. This can be a nice bonus for tamed dinosaurs, especially if you spend a lot of time in their presence.

It’s worth mentioning that tamed dinosaurs do not receive any Tribal Experience from crafting, unlike fellow tribe members. However, there is an exception to this rule. If a tribe member is sitting on a rideable dinosaur while you are crafting items, the dinosaur they are riding will receive Tribal Experience. This can be a useful strategy to level up your tamed dinosaurs more quickly if you have tribe members actively crafting while mounted on them.
