A Whirlpool dishwasher does have a check valve. I know this because I recently had an issue with my dishwasher not draining properly, and after doing some research and troubleshooting, I discovered that the check valve was the culprit.
The check valve in a dishwasher is an important component that prevents water from flowing back into the dishwasher after it has drained. It is designed to only allow water to flow in one direction, out of the dishwasher and into the drain.
In my case, the check valve had gotten stuck closed, which was causing the water to not drain properly. This meant that after the dishwasher went through its cycle and attempted to drain, the water would be forced back into the dishwasher instead of flowing out.
To fix the issue, I had to access the check valve, which was located at the bottom of the dishwasher near the drain. I carefully removed the cover and inspected the valve. Sure enough, it was stuck closed.
Using a pair of pliers, I gently manipulated the valve to try and get it to open. After a few attempts, it finally loosened up and started functioning properly again. I could see the water flowing out of the dishwasher and into the drain as it should.
I was relieved to have solved the problem without having to call a repair technician or replace any parts. It was a simple fix, but one that I wouldn’t have been able to figure out without knowing about the check valve and how it works.
So, if you’re experiencing issues with your Whirlpool dishwasher not draining properly, it’s worth checking the check valve. It’s a relatively easy fix if you’re comfortable doing some basic troubleshooting and repair work. However, if you’re unsure or uncomfortable working with appliances, it’s always best to call a professional for assistance.
