Do Frenchies sleep more as they get older?

Answered by Randy McIntyre

As a proud owner of a French Bulldog, I can say that these adorable little creatures do have their fair share of sleep. In fact, adult Frenchies typically spend around 10-13 hours sleeping per day. This may seem like a lot, but it’s just their natural sleep pattern.

During the remaining hours of the day, Frenchies are known for their playful and energetic nature. They love to run around, play fetch, and engage in other activities that keep them entertained. They also enjoy spending time with their human companions, whether it’s going for walks or simply snuggling up on the sofa.

However, as Frenchies age and enter their senior years, their sleep requirements may change. Just like humans, older dogs tend to tire more quickly and may need additional rest. So, it’s not uncommon for senior Frenchies to spend a bit more time sleeping compared to when they were younger.

I’ve noticed this change in my own Frenchie as she has gotten older. While she used to have bursts of energy throughout the day, she now prefers to take longer naps and requires more rest overall. It’s actually quite endearing to see her curled up in her favorite spot, snoozing away.

Of course, it’s important to note that every Frenchie is unique, and their sleep patterns may vary. Some may require more or less sleep depending on their individual needs and health conditions. It’s always a good idea to consult with a veterinarian if you have any concerns about your Frenchie’s sleep habits, especially as they age.

Frenchies do sleep more as they get older. While adult Frenchies typically spend around 10-13 hours sleeping per day, senior Frenchies may require additional rest due to their decreased energy levels. It’s important to provide them with a comfortable and cozy sleeping environment to support their aging bodies.
