Can you use 2 Apple Pencils at the same time?

Answered by Tom Adger

You cannot use two Apple Pencils at the same time with your iPad. While you can have multiple Apple Pencils, only one can be paired and connected to the iPad at any given time.

The Apple Pencil is a stylus designed specifically for use with the iPad. It offers a seamless and precise drawing and writing experience on the iPad’s screen. The Apple Pencil uses Bluetooth technology to connect to the iPad, allowing for a wireless and responsive interaction.

When you pair an Apple Pencil with your iPad, it establishes a one-to-one connection. This means that only one Apple Pencil can be connected and communicate with the iPad at any given time. If you try to pair a second Apple Pencil while one is already connected, the iPad will not recognize or connect to the second pencil.

While it may be disappointing that you can’t use multiple Apple Pencils simultaneously, the single pairing limitation is likely due to technical and logistical reasons. The iPad needs to establish a direct and dedicated connection with the Apple Pencil to ensure accurate input and responsiveness.

If you have multiple Apple Pencils, you can switch between them by unpairing the currently connected pencil and pairing the new one. To do this, you can go to the Bluetooth settings on your iPad, locate the currently paired Apple Pencil, and choose to forget or unpair it. Then, you can pair the new Apple Pencil by following the instructions provided by Apple.

While it may not be possible to use multiple Apple Pencils simultaneously, having multiple pencils can still be useful in certain situations. For example, if you have different Apple Pencils with different tip styles or sizes, you can choose the one that suits your needs for a specific task or project.

Although you can have multiple Apple Pencils, only one can be paired and connected to your iPad at a time. Switching between Apple Pencils is possible by unpairing the currently connected one and pairing the new one.
