Can iPad read EPUB or mobi?

Answered by Edward Huber

The iPad can read EPUB files natively, but it does not support the Mobi format. However, there is a workaround that allows you to read Mobi files on your iPad.

To do this, you can use a program called Calibre E-Book Management Software. Calibre is a free and open-source application that allows you to manage and convert e-books. It is available for both Windows and Mac operating systems.

First, you will need to download and install Calibre on your computer. Once installed, open the program and click on the “Add books” button to import your Mobi files into the Calibre library.

Once your Mobi files are in the Calibre library, you can then convert them to the ePub format, which is compatible with the iPad. To convert the files, select the Mobi files you want to convert and click on the “Convert books” button.

In the conversion settings, make sure to select ePub as the output format. You can also customize other settings such as the book title, author, and cover image if desired. Once you have selected your desired settings, click on the “OK” button to start the conversion process.

After the conversion is complete, you will have ePub versions of your Mobi files. Now, you can transfer these ePub files to your iPad for reading. There are a few different ways you can do this.

One option is to use iTunes to transfer the ePub files to your iPad. Connect your iPad to your computer and open iTunes. Select your iPad from the device list and go to the “Books” tab. Check the “Sync Books” checkbox and select the ePub files you want to transfer. click the “Sync” button to transfer the files to your iPad.

Alternatively, you can use cloud storage services such as Dropbox or Google Drive to transfer the ePub files to your iPad. Simply upload the ePub files to your cloud storage account and install the corresponding app on your iPad. Open the app, locate the ePub files, and download them to your device for offline reading.

Once the ePub files are on your iPad, you can use an e-book reader app such as iBooks or Adobe Digital Editions to open and read them. These apps provide a user-friendly interface for organizing and reading e-books on your iPad.

While the iPad does not natively support the Mobi format, you can use Calibre E-Book Management Software to convert Mobi files to ePub format. Then, you can transfer and read the converted ePub files on your iPad using apps like iBooks or Adobe Digital Editions.
