Can HomePod play FM radio?

Answered by Stephen Mosley

Unfortunately, the HomePod does not have built-in support for FM radio. The HomePod is primarily designed to be a smart speaker that integrates with Apple’s ecosystem, including Apple Music and other streaming services. However, there are still ways to listen to radio on your HomePod or other Apple devices.

One option is to use the built-in Siri functionality on the HomePod. Simply ask Siri to play a radio station, and it will try to find a streaming version of that station. For example, you can say “Hey Siri, play BBC Radio 1” or “Hey Siri, play NPR”. Siri will then attempt to find a live stream of the requested radio station and play it through the HomePod.

If you prefer to listen to radio on your PC, you can use iTunes to access radio stations. Open iTunes, choose “Music” from the pop-up menu, and then click on “Radio” in the navigation bar. From there, you can browse and choose from a variety of radio stations across different genres and regions.

Alternatively, if you prefer to listen to radio on the web, you can go to and click on “Radio” in the sidebar. This will take you to a web version of Apple Music, where you can access a wide range of radio stations.

It’s worth noting that the availability of radio stations may vary depending on your location and the streaming services available in your country. Some radio stations may not have streaming options or may not be available on Apple’s platforms.

In my personal experience, I have found the Siri integration with radio stations to be quite convenient. I often use my HomePod to listen to my favorite radio stations, and Siri does a good job of finding the live streams. However, it’s always a good idea to double-check the availability of specific radio stations in your region.

To summarize, while the HomePod does not support FM radio natively, you can still listen to radio stations by using Siri voice commands on the HomePod or accessing radio stations through iTunes or the web version of Apple Music.
