Are new AirPods worth it?

Answered by Frank Schwing

When it comes to the new AirPods Pro, I have to say they are absolutely worth it, even if you already own the older version. I recently got my hands on a pair and have been using them for a few weeks now, and I can confidently say that I am never going back to my older ones.

One of the biggest improvements with the AirPods Pro is the addition of active noise cancellation. This feature alone is a game-changer. When I put them on, it’s like entering a whole new world. The outside noise is completely blocked out, allowing me to fully immerse myself in whatever I’m listening to. Whether I’m on a crowded subway or trying to focus in a noisy cafe, the active noise cancellation works like a charm.

But it doesn’t stop there. The AirPods Pro also come with a transparency mode, which allows you to hear the outside world when you need to. This is perfect for situations where you still want to be aware of your surroundings, such as when walking down a busy street or having a conversation with someone. I find myself using this mode quite often, as it strikes a great balance between blocking out noise and staying connected to the world around me.

Another great addition to the AirPods Pro is the customizable fit. Unlike the previous AirPods, the Pros come with interchangeable ear tips in different sizes, ensuring a comfortable and secure fit for everyone. Personally, I struggled with the fit of the older AirPods, but with the Pro version, I can find the perfect size that stays in place even during rigorous activities like running or working out.

Sound quality has also been noticeably improved. The bass is deeper and richer, and the overall audio experience is more immersive. Whether I’m listening to music, podcasts, or watching movies, the sound quality is top-notch.

One feature that I didn’t think I needed until I tried it is the new force sensor. With a simple squeeze on the stem of the AirPods Pro, I can control playback, skip tracks, and answer or end calls. It’s incredibly convenient, especially when my phone is out of reach or I have gloves on during the winter months.

Lastly, the battery life on the AirPods Pro is excellent. I can easily get through a full day of use without needing to recharge them. And when I do need to charge them, the wireless charging case is a nice touch. Just place the case on a Qi-enabled charging pad, and they’ll quickly recharge.

The new AirPods Pro are absolutely worth the $249 price tag, even if you already own the older version. The active noise cancellation, customizable fit, improved sound quality, and added features like the force sensor make them a significant upgrade. I can confidently say that I won’t be going back to my old AirPods anytime soon.
