To change your Mac from Wi-Fi to Ethernet, follow these steps:
1. Go to the Apple menu in the top-left corner of your screen and select “System Preferences.”
2. In the System Preferences window, click on the “Network” icon. This will open the Network preferences pane.
3. On the left side of the Network preferences pane, you will see a list of available network services. These may include Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and more. If you don’t see the service you want to use, click on the “+” button at the bottom of the list to add it.
4. Click on the service you want to change to Ethernet. In this case, it would be either the Ethernet option if it already exists or the Wi-Fi option.
5. In the right-hand pane, you will see various settings for the selected service. Look for the “Configure IPv4” or “Configure IPv6” dropdown menu and select “Using DHCP” or “Using DHCP with manual address,” depending on your network setup.
6. If you selected “Using DHCP with manual address,” you can enter a specific IP address, subnet mask, and router address if required by your network. Otherwise, leave it as “Using DHCP” to automatically obtain network settings from your router.
7. Now, click on the “Advanced” button at the bottom right of the preferences pane. This will open a new window with advanced settings for the selected service.
8. In the Advanced window, navigate to the “TCP/IP” tab. Ensure that the “Configure IPv4” or “Configure IPv6” dropdown menu is set to “Using DHCP.” If you made any changes in the previous step, those settings will be reflected here.
9. Next, go to the “Hardware” tab in the Advanced window. In the “Configure” dropdown menu, choose “Manually” if you want to manually set the speed and duplex settings for your Ethernet connection. Otherwise, leave it as “Automatically.”
10. Once you have made any necessary changes, click on the “OK” button to apply the settings and close the Advanced window.
11. Back in the Network preferences pane, click on the “Apply” button to save your changes.
12. you can click on the Wi-Fi icon in the menu bar at the top of your screen and select “Turn Wi-Fi Off” to disconnect from the Wi-Fi network if it was previously connected.

Ethernet connections are often faster and more secure, making them ideal for tasks that require a stable network connection, such as video streaming, gaming, or large file transfers.
