You can hide apps on your iPhone using the App Library feature introduced in iOS 14. The App Library is a new section at the end of your home screen pages where all your apps are automatically organized into categories. It provides a clean and clutter-free way to access your apps.
To hide an app from your home screen, follow these steps:
1. Long-press on any app icon on your home screen. This will trigger the “wiggle mode” where you can rearrange or delete apps.
2. Tap the small “x” icon in the corner of the app you want to hide. This will prompt a pop-up asking if you want to delete the app. Don’t worry, deleting the app won’t remove it from your iPhone or delete any of its data.
3. Instead of tapping “Delete,” choose the “Remove App” option. This will remove the app from your home screen but keep it installed on your iPhone.
4. The app will now be hidden from your home screen but can still be accessed through the App Library. To open the App Library, swipe left on your home screen pages until you reach the end.
5. In the App Library, you’ll see different categories like Suggestions, Recently Added, and so on. Scroll through these categories to find the app you’ve hidden. You can also use the search bar at the top to quickly find the app by typing its name.
To unhide a hidden app and bring it back to your home screen:
1. Open the App Library by swiping left on your home screen pages until you reach the end.
2. Locate the app you want to unhide in the App Library. Long-press on its icon.
3. A menu will appear with options related to the app. Tap on “Add to Home Screen.” This will place the app back on your home screen in its original location.
It’s worth noting that hiding an app in the App Library doesn’t affect its notifications. If you receive notifications for a hidden app, they will still appear on your lock screen and in the Notification Center.
Hiding apps in the App Library is a convenient way to declutter your home screen without permanently deleting any apps. It allows you to easily access hidden apps whenever you need them by using the search function or opening the App Library.
